Music Sustainability Forum 2025
The Music Sustainability Forum 2025 took place April 4th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Alumni House, followed by a reception. Sessions asked and sought to answer a range of questions, including, “How do we understand the relationship between universities and the music ecosystems in which they operate?” “What specific leverage points exist for institutions to support artists and communities through research, teaching, performance and rehearsal spaces, infrastructure, partnerships, or hiring practices?” “What issue threatening music or musicians feels most urgent to you—and why?” and, perhaps most importantly, “What can we do tomorrow?” Representatives included Georgetown University, Georgetown Law, American University, George Washington University, Music Policy Forum, National Endowment for the Arts, National Museum of African American History and Culture, American Folklife Center, Library of Congress, and Smithsonian Folkways.
